Where Did You Come From?

a series of Children’s Books with a Mission

by Judy Bart and Erica Kahn

Concerned with the state of the over-populated in shelters throughout the United States leading to the deaths of millions of animals annually, and fueled with passion for their own beloved rescue dogs and cats,  Producers Judy Bart and Erica Kahn penned a series of books with illustrations by Lauera VanderHeart depicting the imaged beginnings of homeless dogs and cats and plan to donate the proceeds to animal rescues to support their futures.

Where Did You Come From? is a s 16-page soft cover light-hearted tales of secret lives and incredible journeys of stray and surrendered animals before being adopted. From the circus to the farm, to a crowded big city, or a palatial estate, all of the dogs and cats in their imagined circumstances do eventually find their forever homes.

 Impact through partnership

According to data published by the ASPCA: Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats). The number of dogs and cats euthanized in U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 2.6 million in 2011, but there are still significant challenges facing animals shelters and rescues.

These books are dedicated to “all those who have opened their hearts and their homes to rescue a loving pet.”  To encourage the rescue of homeless animals and reduce the death toll, they are donating 100% of the initial book print sales to benefit three handpicked dynamic rescues located in the cities where the authors reside Los Angeles, California and Miami Beach, Florida.

Lesley Brog, Founder and Chief Animal Lover at Wags & Walks Quote: "The mission of Wags & Walks is to save family-friendly dogs from high-kill shelters in Los Angeles. We believe rescue dogs are the best dogs in the world and focus all of our efforts on building happy homes between humans and dogs. We love how Where Did You Come From? explores the unique journeys of all dogs and encourages children to learn more about the story behind their furry friends."

QUOTES

“Documentary films deeply explore the backstory of your main character or the institution whose story you are telling or exposing. But most shelter and stray animals come without a detailed backstory. Judy and I wanted to add some light to that secret history and depict through Lauera’s captivating illustrations that, regardless of the path to getting to their forever home, each rescue dog can have a happy ending.”
